PTA began this smartphone registry so that mobile devices can be monitored. Most of the mobile devices are smuggled into Pakistan. PTA introduced this mobile registration to keep track of these mobiles and to stop the smuggling of mobile devices in Pakistan.

If you are buying a new mobile from the shop, you should buy the one on its box that has PTA approved stamp.

PTA allows one device to be registered at no cost if you are returning from abroad to Pakistan. If you have more than one mobile device then you need to sign the other. What is PTA?

PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) is the regulatory body which regulates and sees Pakistan's telecommunications system.

What is DIRBS

This telephone identification scheme was launched by PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) in 2018 to keep track of all mobiles. DIRBS stands for the method of application recognition, authentication, and blocking. It is an ecosystem of smart apps launched by PTA to ensure that legitimate apps are used in Pakistan over mobile networks. PTA implemented DIRBS to classify smartphones and block illegal cell phones.

To check your mobile registration

You can verify whether or not your cell phone is registered with PTA by sending a message to 8484. Enter in the message your telephone IMEI, and send it to 8484. You will receive a PTA message that your device is or is not being verified.

For an IMEI cell phone test, dial * # 06 # from your mobile device. If you have a dual SIM cell phone so there will be two separate IMEI numbers on your mobile phone. You'll get a 15 digit IMEI number when you dial * # 06 # from your mobile device. You can also locate IMEI numbers in cell phone environments.

Also, you can check system status on https:/dirbs.pta.gov.pk/. You will receive the following message after sending your mobile device IMEI on 8484.

When sending the message to 8484 you get one of the following messages:
The system IMEI is compliant (PTA Certified), which means it is licensed by PTA and all network facilities are open to you.

The IMEI software is non-compliant but the network infrastructure can still be used. If your computer is non-complaint then send an SMS to sign your computer, or make a call.
The IMEI app is blocked which means your mobile computer is blocked and in Pakistan, you can not use it. You have to pay the taxes to make use of it.

After blocking PTA's IMEI post, you must sign your mobile device in order to use it. You should sign your cell phone using numerous methods, and in this post, we will address the registration methods.

Register Mobile Phone Through USSD.

Take those moves to sign by dialling * 8484 #:
On your cell phone press * 8484#.
When you dial * 8484 # you'll see different choices. To sign your mobile device press 1.
Now answer with 1 if you are a Pakistani citizen, and respond with 2 if you are a foreigner.

If it is your first unit, respond with 1 again. Your initial computer would be free to sign.

You will now type your passport number and your CNIC number.

Now respond with a number of SIM slots that your mobile device has.

Type your IMEI code, and then type both IMEI numbers if you have dual SIMs.

To complete this application for registration, respond with 1. Your form will be filed in PTA.
When all of the certificates you have received are right you should receive a confirmation message from 8484. If your certificates are wrong you must do the above steps again.

Register Mobile Phone Through DIRBS

Follow these steps to register via DIRBS (device recognition, authentication, and blocking system).

Open your browser to open the App Registration Page, and click https:/dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs.
You will sign in to the account. Tap on Sign Up, if you do not have an account.

You will see a form after you click on the Sign-Up button. Fill in all the details needed to fill out the form.

Second, select the intent and type of customer.

For mobile / tablet PCs, you can choose personal/individual, and choose local or international in the app form.

Connect your name, passport number, phone number and address information to complete the sign-up process.

You'll get an email with a connection to confirmation. Tap on it to have your account authenticated.
Sign in to your account now.

You will see a declaration window after signing in and you will see individual COC choice on the left side. Tap on COC Card.

Now type your IMEI number and your phone number on your mobile app.

If you have to pay the tax for your mobile phone or not you will receive a text from PTA.

You can sign a cell phone via the facilitation centres of PTA mobile device (Android only) and Cellular network operator. If you're only visiting Pakistan for a month, you can register your mobile device here, but if you're staying for more than 60 days, you'll need to register your cell phone.
